Financing, scholarships and the visa route

€102,000 of tuition and roughly €25,300 of living costs, against a published scholarship menu, a 50% stacking cap, loan partners, and a one-year APS job-search visa.

The full cost picture (September 2026 / January 2027)

Financing an HEC MBA is a structured process, not a search — the school publishes a defined menu of scholarships, holds formal loan partnerships, and coordinates external funding through Campus France and country-specific programmes.

ItemAmount
Tuition€102,000 for the September 2026 and January 2027 intakes, covering the full 16-month programme or the accelerated 12-month January track, and including the €9,000 deposit payable on accepting an offer.
Application fee€200, waived for women applicants.
Living costs (16 months)Approximately €25,300, bringing total estimated cost to nearly €127,300.
Partner-accompanied livingApproximately €32,000 for the 16 months, covering shared accommodation.
Payment structureTuition is paid in instalments tied to the academic calendar rather than upfront; request the full fee schedule directly from admissions.

Internal scholarships: the HEC Foundation menu

Roughly 60% of HEC MBA students receive some form of scholarship, with an average award of €15,000. The HEC Foundation provides approximately €1,000,000 in financial aid for tuition and accommodation to MBA students each year.

HEC Excellence Scholarship
Merit-based, with automatic consideration for all admitted candidates. Can cover up to 50% of tuition.
HEC Diversity Scholarship
For candidates who bring distinctive value to the class profile. Covers 20% to 50% of tuition.
Forté Foundation Scholarship
Awards up to €26,000 for female candidates.
30% Club Scholarship
Aimed at advancing women in business; covers up to 50% of first-year tuition.
ARD/HEC Scholarship
Fixed €16,000 support for French armed forces officers transitioning to civilian careers, in partnership with Défense Mobilité.
Laidlaw Scholars Program
Ten full-tuition scholarships annually for exceptional women with strong leadership potential and demonstrable financial need, funded by a €1.9 million commitment over three years from the Laidlaw Foundation.

The stacking rule

The combination of HEC Excellence, Forté Foundation, ARD and Paris Saclay scholarships cannot exceed 50% of tuition fees. The Laidlaw Scholarship is the sole exception: if awarded, it cannot be combined with other HEC scholarships, and any previously received HEC scholarships become void. Candidates who receive Laidlaw effectively get 100% of tuition covered, but forfeit any stacking optionality.

External scholarships

Eiffel Scholarship (French government)
For candidates working in emerging countries. Provides a monthly allowance of approximately €1,100 plus travel, health insurance and cultural activity coverage; tuition is not covered. Applications are submitted to Campus France by the admissions team on behalf of selected candidates in early January, and only applications submitted between September and November for the September intake are eligible.
Campus France regional scholarships
Country-specific programmes; research your home country's Campus France office directly.
Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship
Country-of-study restrictions apply.
Serge Bellanger Scholarship
Run by the French-American Chamber of Commerce, for US nationals accepted to French MBA programmes and French nationals accepted to US MBA programmes.

Loans: the financing backbone

Because full scholarships are rare and stacking is capped at 50%, most candidates rely on loans for the remaining balance. For US citizens, federal student loans are not available for study at HEC Paris; private lenders serving international MBAs are the primary route.

Prodigy Finance
International student loan platform partnered with HEC Paris. Available to international students without a French co-signer or collateral requirement in many cases.
Lendwise
UK-based MBA loan provider, particularly relevant for UK residents and select international applicants.
French national banks
Most banks lend for study at HEC Paris to French nationals or residents with pre-established banking credentials, at very low interest rates, with information sessions on campus during the first three weeks of September. Non-French applicants typically require an EU-based financial guarantor.

Other financial support

CAF housing subsidy
A French government housing allowance available to enrolled students, reducing monthly accommodation costs.
Company sponsorship
Some employers fully or partially fund tuition in exchange for a post-MBA return commitment; the school holds case examples on file.

ROI framing

HEC Paris reports that the Class of 2025 average salary package reached $123,170, a 12% increase over the prior year, with graduates doubling their pre-MBA salaries on average. Against €102,000 of tuition, the standard framing rests on three variables: pre-MBA salary, post-MBA salary trajectory, and total cost of attendance including foregone income. The 16-month structure compresses the foregone-income line relative to two-year programmes — a materially different ROI calculation that is often under-weighted in comparisons against US M7 programmes.

The "Paris" professional advantage

The brand of HEC Paris is considered a "European Gateway". In France, the HEC name is associated with prestige and "aristocracy", opening doors that might otherwise be closed. For international students, the one-year APS job-search visa is a significant advantage, allowing them to remain in France while securing a role, which then easily converts to a full work visa. The school also offers French language classes as part of the curriculum, which is highly recommended for those targeting roles in the local luxury or consulting sectors.

Staying in France after graduation

Graduates from HEC Paris are eligible for a one-year job-search visa (APS), which allows them to remain in France after graduation. Once a job offer is secured, this easily transforms into a work visa. Because the HEC name is so strong, it is considered a "European Gateway" to the region's job markets. While French language skills are not always required for roles in companies like Amazon, learning the language is highly recommended to fully integrate into French culture and access the luxury and consulting sectors.
